Join us for a three-day, Virtual Cook Inlet Belugapalooza happening Sept. 22-24th, 2020!
Open to the public via Zoom, this free ‘pop up’ virtual event will kick off with a beluga paint night and feature guest speakers from organizations that support the recovery of our critically endangered Cook Inlet belugas, including exciting cameos from our belugas themselves!
This 'pop up' virtual event is being co-hosted by Alaska Wildlife Alliance, Defenders of Wildlife, Beluga Whale Alliance, and other collaborating organizations.
What Are Our Belugas Up To?
Ever wonder what happened to the adorable baby beluga that was rescued from Cook Inlet in 2017? Tune in to see for yourself as we will be joined by Tyonek the beluga and his caregiver at SeaWorld San Antonio, Katie Kolodziej, to hear all about his life in Texas! Also, learn about how people all along Cook Inlet are helping researchers better understand how belugas here use their habitat throughout the year. Special guest appearances from the Cook Inlet Beluga Whale Photo-ID Project, Tyonek the rescued baby beluga, and citizen scientists here in Alaska who are currently actively monitoring our beluga whales.
