Soldotna: FREE Wildlife Thursday- Why do Moose Cross the Road?

  • Soldotna Public Library 235 North Binkley Street Soldotna, AK, 99669 United States (map)

Join us for this free presentation by Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Biologist John Morton to learn the age-old question:Why do moose cross the road? Wildlife passages under the Sterling Highway

As part of the MP 58-79 road improvement project, the Kenai Refuge has worked with the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities to install 5 underpasses and a new bridge to help wildlife navigate the 1.4 million vehicles that travel this section of the Sterling Highway.  This work includes 1.5 miles of fence to reduce moose-vehicle collisions in the area around Lily Lake.

All are welcome! We have a coloring station for the kids as well!
