Living in a state with large predators comes with responsibilities. It is not uncommon for residents or visitors to Alaska to see bears, usually from a safe distance. With that said, education is one of the strongest tools we have to help minimize human-bear conflicts. The Anchorage Bear Committee education subgroup was created as an offshoot of the Anchorage Bear Committee and is comprised of educators dedicated to communicating about how to stay safe in bear country. The group meets throughout the winter months to plan outreach for the upcoming summer, develop messaging campaigns, and discuss educational opportunities. Learn more about our work with ABC!
