Alaska Wildlife Alliance's (AWA's) beluga monitoring coordinator, Teresa Becher, made another appearance in an article published by KDLL! Teresa works with AWA and the Alaska Beluga Monitoring Partnership (AKBMP) to coordinate beluga monitoring efforts along the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers. Read (or listen) to the story below, or find it here.
AKBMP is a collaboration between several organizations that offer opportunities for volunteer citizen scientists to contribute to endangered beluga monitoring efforts in Alaska’s Cook Inlet. Together, AKBMP partners design standardized scientific monitoring protocols, train volunteers to support monitoring efforts, and coordinate shore-based beluga monitoring activities at various sites throughout Cook Inlet.
Want to volunteer with Teresa and the rest of the team to look for belugas along the shores of Cook Inlet? Register and find out more at AKBMP’s website. You can also text the word "beluga" to 833-541-0408 to sign up and receive alerts about when the whales are being spotted in the Kenai and Kasilof rivers.
