Our Woman of the Year

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. We are lucky to work with strong, dedicated, resourceful, and compassionate women who take time from their busy lives to protect our state’s wildlife.

One woman stands above the rest this year. We are proud to honor AWA SE Board President, Patricia O’Brien, as this year’s AWA Woman of the Year.

Under Pat’s leadership, the AWA SE chapter sponsored 57 Wildlife Wednesday presentations in Juneau, submitted countless comments on wildlife management proposals, organized dozens of fundraisers, and mobilized the SE community to take action for the region’s wildlife. Pat is retiring from the board this month, and speaking on behalf of all AWA members, staff, and supporters, we thank her for her tireless efforts on this important cause. Thank you, Pat!
